KCDEM is launching a new program to help all Kitsap County residents receive important emergency notifications. While KitsapALERT is accessible for most people, we recognize that some people have a harder time receiving emergency notifications. Some may not have the access to technology, or have a language barrier, while others are dependent on the support and care from another.

In response to this need, a training will be held in June to establish the Trusted Partner Network (TPN). This team of volunteers will be the link to relay important notifications to those who would not otherwise receive them. We invite community members and organization leaders to join this team who have an established and trusted connection to friends, neighbors or clients that need assistance in receiving or understanding emergency alerts. As ones who bridge the gap, you will help others know the important safety measures they need to take. This could include: EVACUATE, STAY INSIDE or STAY OUT OF THE AREA. Receiving emergency notifications in a timely manner in a crisis will save lives. Consider joining this important team.

The one-day training is being offered on two different dates, Saturday, June 7 and Wednesday, June 11. Both trainings will be held from 11am- 2pm and include boxed lunch to be enjoyed during a break at the training. The first two hours of the training is the presentation and interactive learning. The final hour will be personal mentoring and support using the KitsapALERT notification system. There will be an ongoing commitment to participate in a month drill for the first three months after the training, followed by an ongoing commitment to participate in a quarterly drill thereafter.
