Tribal Partnerships with KCDEM

Kitsap County Department of Emergency Management (KCDEM) has relationships with local tribes to pass through resource requests as appropriate and to provide mutual aid during emergencies. The tribes may also choose to participate in emergency management efforts by:

  • Coordinating local resources.
  • Taking part in an Emergency Operations Center if the emergency includes the tribes.
  • Taking part in local and regional training exercises and classes.
  • Taking part in KCDEM working groups such as the Community Warning System Technical Advisory Committee (CTAC) and the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC.)

During the recent COVID-19 emergency, the Suquamish Tribe participated in the Unified Command function of the Emergency Operations Center by representing all of Kitsap County law enforcement.

The Suquamish Tribe and the Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe are partners.
