Energy disruptions can impact the electrical and natural gas grids in Kitsap County. Pole and underground service has been upgraded over the years. These efforts reduce winter storm outages and improve structural integrity. But, many systems are underground and are vulnerable to earthquakes and landslides. Based on a recent assessment of Kitsap County, energy emergencies are rated a moderate risk threat.
What is KCDEM doing to address energy emergencies?
The Kitsap Department of Emergency Management (KCDEM) partners with utility companies to address emergencies. KCDEM has plans in place to address earthquakes and landslides that will impact the energy infrastructure in Kitsap County.
