Let’s stock the shelves – Donating blood is a safe action

Blood donation centers in Washington state have an emergency need for blood donations. Your donation in the days and weeks ahead is critical for medical providers to continue their life-saving work. Schedule an appointment with Bloodworks Northwest online or call 800-398-7888. Here is some information from Bloodworks on what to expect when you schedule your donation.

  • COVID-19 Vaccine & Blood Donation: There is no waiting period to donate if you receive the Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson/Janssen, Novavax or AstraZeneca COVID vaccine. For more vaccine guidance, visit bloodworksnw.org/coronavirus.
  • To meet community needs and keep everyone safe, Bloodworks Northwest has shifted from welcoming walk-ins to scheduled appointments only at all Bloodworks Centers and Pop-Up locations. Additionally, donation centers no longer permit visitors and children under age 16 on-site. These measures ensure safe social distancing and a safe, controlled experience for all donors and staff. It’s important for donors to keep their appointments, and make future appointments to ensure blood stays available in our community. Learn more about blood donations and COVID-19.
  • As of July 15, 2020, Bloodworks implemented new FDA blood donor eligibility guidance (April 2, 2020 Statement) supported by studies and epidemiologic data. The changes affect several blood donation criteria. If you were deferred in the past, please contact Bloodworks at 800-398-7888 to determine your eligibility according to the new criteria. Read about the updates here.

Blood donation remains an essential action. Donors are also required to wear their own masks for everyone’s safety. Thank you for helping keep the blood supply strong!
