The ribbon cutting of the KCDEM Operations & Training Center included a number of elected officials, community leaders, distinguished guests and community members. Over 150 people attended the Open House and were able to walk through the recently constructed facility. They learned about how the Emergency Operations Center works and visited with the volunteer organizations under KCDEM that help Kitsap County prepare and respond to emergencies and disasters. Thanks to all of our great staff and volunteers who help make this event a success!

Our new facility benefits Kitsap County in a number of ways. First, we are now in an earthquake resistant facility in a geologically stable area where Continuity of Government and Continuity of Operations can take place. Second, we have a dedicated training facility for stakeholders, volunteers and staff to hone their skills to respond to emergencies and disasters. Third, we now have ample space for storage of critical tools, supplies, equipment and vehicles to serve residents of Kitsap County in times of crisis.
