Sheriff's debriefing volunteers during the exercise.

Even though COVID-19 has been with us for 18 months, it’s important we keep up on training and exercising for other emergencies and disasters.

A Family Assistance Center is a place where family members of victims from a mass casualty event can be supported. For our exercise we used a mass shooting to create numerous fatalities and many injured. A wide variety of agencies and organizations (paid and volunteer) came together both in person at our Mobile Emergency Operations Center or virtually.

Conduct evaluations during the exercise.

Participants worked through a series of modules designed to help them stand up and meet the needs of families under the watchful eyes of trained evaluators.

Next steps will include development of an After Action Report detailing what was learned, revisions to existing plans. and new training opportunities.
